A Southport Junior, Headland was a versatile and reliable utility who excelled across the half-back. He played 132 games at Southport from 2007-2016 and played NEAFL representative football. He was a 2008 Premiership player and Club Captain in 2015 and 2016, before finishing his career at Palm Beach.
